CAMBODIAN COMMUNITIES IN UNITED STATES and CANADA.
There are about eight
Thousands Cambodian Washington Metropolitan area living here. Most of them came here in the 80s, during the high exodus of refugees from
Cambodia, and a few were the former Diplomats and students from the
70s. A few who made it here in the 90s, either came here under the family reunification act or are married to
Americans.
Young people here, they have two languages, English, and Khmer, their Khmer is not good, and so the parents feel they are fighting a cultural gap.
There are a few Cambodian Communities in all over here:
1. The Cambodian Buddhist Society, Inc.
The Cambodian Buddhist Society, Inc., run a Cambodian and Cultural
classes, music, and literature School in Silver Spring, Maryland. It also has a class of traditional dance.
The Buddhist association, is there to help people spiritually for their next life, as well as to take care of the Cambodian Community in this one.
This is our pagoda founded by the the Buddhist Association and supported by all of the Cambodian people in Auckland.
We have four venerable monks in our Buddha temple. If you are out there, wanting to be one don't feel shy to contact:-
|
I have heard that the Buddhist Society is going to build ChetDey
(Deceased ashes Monument) at the temple so stay tuned.
